ok so i feel like a retard on this thing. man i just can't catch a break lol i still havent gotten the hang of how to successfully make 2 quarts at a time. i decided to get fancy and make a strawberry / celery / greens combo. ummmm strawberry juice not very sweet so it ended up tasting like grass. and to top it off i'm outta apples so i cant make it any sweeter so i hafta go out foraging! which makes me nervous cuz i've only had a bout a quart so far & i'm a little hungry so i dont trust myself not to buy food lol i sorta already made a deal with myself that i could get a piece of raw pie at the store : )
i kept worrying if i was getting in my 2 lbs of greens a day so at the store i weighed a bunch of greens (about 5 medium sized leaves) and it was about a 1/2 a lb. i was using about 2 large leaves per quart so i was close but now i know if i use about 20 medium sized leaves i'm ok.
Filled up on the old produce:
- 18 bunches of celery
- 40 lbs of apples
- 25 lb bag of carrots--i've never seen so many carrots in one bag before! lol i kinda felt like an idiot with it in my cart i dont know why lol
i also picked up some hemp seed oil & some hand cream since i'm washing produce & my hands nonstop i am dry beyond belief!
total $133
did the tabulation for a days worth of apple / celery / greens juice:
- 2 bags of apples (about 12 medium) = $10
- 8 bunches of celery = $10
- greens = $5
thats $25 a day!
not that my health isnt worth it and thats probably close to what i spend on food since i eat out all the time, but i cant help think of the $15 a day price that david rain put on it lol maybe i need to hit the farmers market to see if they're cheaper?
overall i had a very unsuccessful day juice wise. i probably only got about 2 1/2 quarts in. i was so tired from lugging the *literally* hundred pounds of produce up to my apartment lol i just didnt want to juice anymore. i knew it was a bad idea & that headaches would come so i tried to drink water.
